Exam Questions-January 18th

1. Go through your notes and make up AND ANSWER the questions in this pattern that I am about to describe in this note that is before you. Currently.

Note: These questions go back to the start of the semester. Yipes.


1. Short Answer Questions – 3-5 marks


Come up with 5 or so.


2. Longer Answer Questions – 6-8 marks – these involve use of examples

3. An opinion piece – could be called an essay if this was a mean old man class, wait, it IS! (20 marks – 10 for logic, flow, structure and 10


Here is the opinion, and here is why I think it with proof/references from the course



1. Short Answers:

a)What is a demographic?

A demographic is data about people that helps us categorize them. Information in the data includes their job, religion, hair colour, clothes, etc. Advertisers do this to target different demographics to make people but their products so they can make money.

b) Who created the first film camera in the North America in the1900's, what kinds of movies was
he making?

Thomas Edison was the first to make/use a film camera and produce movies for people to see in North America. The movies he was creating were low class according to the people that were watching these movies

c)Where did TV come from?
TV came from a fifteen year old boy named Phil Farnsworth

d)List three things we know about the disco.
Three things we know about the disco are;
-The fashion was funky and colourful-flower patterns & bell bottoms
-The music was repetitive and had repetative beats
-A popular song was Stayin Alive by the Bee Gees

e) Black Music-What was the first kind of black music? Key instrument? Who was involved?

The first type of black music was jazz, a key instrument in the black music industry was the electric guitar. Artists who were involved were the Jackson 5.



2. Longer Answer Questions:

a) Name 4 different types of television shows and explain a bit about them and give one example
     1) Game shows-cheapest types of shows to make, involve audience and are exciting. eg, Family Feud
     2)Sitcoms-a situation comedy that is usually half an hour long. eg. Two and a Half Men
     3)Sporting events-A sport that is taped and put on television usually has a sport broadcaster. Eg, Hockey
     4)Talk show-cheap to produce, have a live audience, Eg. Dr. Phil

b)Name 4 TV producing jobs and explain what they are.
     1)Gaffer-an electrician, helps the set up and has to deal with the wires around the electronics
     2)Best Boy-the head electrician
     3)Cinematographer-the person who gets the camera and light to do what the director wants them to do
     4)Actor-A person who is the one being filmed and helps make the movie and actual movie. Eg, Vin Diesil

3. Opinion Piece:
Advertisers effect on consumers? Good or Bad?
-stereo types
-peer pressure
-makes people spend money
-creates fads
-ect.
